Intergalactic deputations will be a lot of fun with a dependable droid at your side. In companion mode, R2-D2 replies to commands like “Go on patrol,” “Light Beam,” and “Play Message.” Star Wars fans are sure to treasure the accuracy of the substances, which are picked from renowned missions he remembers.
You can even ask R2 about friends including Luke Skywalker, C-3PO, Darth Vader, and Jabba the Hutt. He has a dissimilar response to for each one based on his “feelings” for the characters. And if you hit R2 on the head, he’ll make annoyed beeping voices and try to move away from you. As you get to know your droid, you’ll see that the haphazardnesses and gestures he makes match his “mood.”
In the game mode, the robot responds to harder commands. He’ll act as a lookout to protect your important things, you can program him to use his sensor and sound the alarm system when he detects any motion, dance to music, spin, and play tag. The third command mode lets you give guided instructions that control his movements. Tell him to turn left and right or go forward whenever you want, or set a pre-programmed course for him to abide by.
Although R2 answered to bare instructions with no problems, we had difficulty getting him to react reliably to more difficult quests. We think that, like with any voice-operated electronic system, over time it will become easier to make a broader array of controls that R2 consistently answers to. Until then, his movie-accurate look, the way he answers to bare instructions, and the handy drink holder make him a fun companion.
